This list rounds up my favourite sneakers I have picked up this year. It includes some older releases, going as far as 10 years back, a couple of pairs that released this year and most notably a new found love for Vans.
10. Dover Street Market x Vans Old Skool
I love Old Skools for their versatility and low price point and as such have been my most worn silhouette this year(RIP my black pair) so I got really excited when DSM decided to re-issue these.
9. Vans Old Skool "Veggie Tan"
Another Old Skool, this time a general release with vegetable tanned leather housed atop a cream midsole. One of the reasons why I have such a strong affection for Vans is that they don't need a collaboration to release a banger.
8. Acne Studios Triple Lo
I picked these up in Berlin during my internship over summer while I was on the hunt for a nice pair of timeless white sneakers. Love how the velcro straps of the Triple Lo define the overall silhouette yet maintain an overall minimal image.
7. Vans Slip On x Gosha
My favourite footwear collaboration by Gosha.
6. Air Jordan 1 "Banned"
Jordan 1s have been my favourite silhouette ever since I started collecting for their durability and history. Was lucky to purchase them off Solebox. However, was slapped with a 70Eur shipping fee...
5. Vans Sk8 Hi x FOG
I don't have a particular affection for Jerry Lorenzo's Fear of God(also partially because I can't afford it) but have to say that his collaboration with Vans was A*. The cream coloured tongue, toe box, laces and midsole gave this versatile silhouette a lux feel. The low-key tab on the back of the midsole was a nice touch as well. However, not a fan of the Eras that he released.
4. Bape x Ronnie Fieg "Fiegsta"
Took me by surprise when Ronnie Fieg unveiled them at Kithland. A collaboration I honestly did not see coming given how Kith and Bape are so different in their direction. But then again, Kith and Bape are collaborating with everything and everyone.
I was hesitant to cop them at first given their high retail price point(even higher in Singapore than in the US), but they grew on me overtime and why not spend a little bit more on a quality pair rather than a hyped pair.
3. Highsnobiety x Adidas Ultra Boost
I have been working with Highsnobiety for slightly over a year now so having this pair is a great reminder of the memories I have collected with them. This is also one of my favourite Ultra Boosts that released this year alongside the Kith collaboration. The grey wool upper and leather cage are timeless.
2. Vans Slip-On x FDMTL
I don't believe many people know about these as I've been asked many times what these are. These are in collaboration with Okayama -based denim company FDMTL. Their patchwork and attention to detail is insane and I knew I had to have these ever since they were teased in 2015. This is also my favourite release in 2016.
1. Kanye West x Bape
